Are you really sick of eating the same meals week in week out but like most of us you struggle for time to create something more adventurous?.
Look no further, Gousto box is the answer. I have previously posted on my blog about the concept of these types of delivery boxes so I will go over it briefly.
Gousto is a super flexible food box delivery service that sends you everything you need to make gorgeous meals for you and your family, I believe you can order meals for up to 4 people. You can cancel and skip weeks as often as you feel suits your budget and lifestyle. What I would say is make sure you pick your recipes in good time otherwise I believe they send you random things from that weeks selection which would be a disaster if there are some things you really don’t like.
This first box cost me £17.50 for 4 meals (you can choose less) thanks to a 50% discount I found by browsing online, but if you follow this link —->> Gousto box referral link this will give you 60% off your first box and 30% off any other boxes ordered in your first month, how good is that !!??.
I chose free delivery which can be any time between 8am and 7pm on your chosen delivery day but you can also select time slots that are more suited to you at a small cost. I have Tuesdays of work so I knew this wouldn’t be an issue. You can also select a safe place for your box to be left if you are unavailable and the packaging contains ice blocks and insulation which will keep all of your food fresh for you.
I was sooo excited for my first delivery to arrive today and I did go to the cinema at one point but I knew it would be left in a safe place. Later in the day I was unfortunately sent an email telling me that my box was delayed and it would be with me between 6pm and 10pm which of course couldn’t be helped and I was glad they had let me know however I hadn’t actually got any food in the house as I knew I would be having a meal out of this box tonight so I kind of just sat there in hope that it would arrive closer to the 6pm mark. 6.30pm arrived and the doorbell went, I could have kissed the delivery driver ( I didn’t ).
I couldn’t wait to dig into the box and get all my goodies out but first I wanted to check out the recipe cards for the meals I had chosen, you also get an envelope full of coupons for other companies and a little welcome book which is a nice extra.
I love how these little recipe cards come hole punched ready for you to put into a binder which I believe you get as a free gift if you continue to use their service. I did notice that the lamb burger recipe card is a fair bit smaller than the others which is a bit strange. Each of these cards have a list of the ingredients which you need to get out for this meal and on the reverse it has a step by step guide on how to make your meal which is really easy to follow.
Then came the exciting bit, actually looking in the box and getting all of my yummy ingredients out.
This is absolutely everything you need to make the four meals with the addition of possibly some salt, pepper and olive oil in some of the recipes but most people have these things in their cupboard already.
I absolutely love that included in my delivery was a free gift which was a Gousto wooden spoon, such a great added touch to get people into the brand. I actually used this to stir the pickled cucumber on my first meal and found it really easy to use because of its thick handle, I’ve never been so excited to use a wooden spoon 🙊.
Once I’d sorted out all of my ingredients I left out everything I needed for my first meal and stored everything else away.
For our first meal I decided to go for the lamb burger with minty mayo and chips, my main reason for going for this first was the ciabatta rolls, I knew it would be best to use them when they were fresh.
The meal took me around 40 mins to make. The recipe was really easy to follow especially with everything being measured out and ready to use.
If I do say so myself this meal turned out incredible and tasted even better.
The total calories for this meal was 734 kcal which is quite high but is good as a fake away sort of cheat meal as it’s still a lot better than ordering from a take away or fast food restaurant and far more fun.
I adored the minty mayo, it is very simple to make and very easy to replicate as is the whole meal but it is far better having everything already there to prevent having to pre prep anything.
Overall after just this one meal I am already very impressed with Gousto. Okay so the first delivery issues weren’t ideal but it still arrived in good time for me to have our first meal for dinner so I can’t complain and things happen.
I have already ordered my second box for 2 weeks time, I am skipping next week as it’s my Birthday week and we are going out a fair bit and won’t make the most of the meals.
Follow my referral link Gousto Referral link for 60% off your first box order and 30% off any boxes ordered within the first month. I hope you enjoy making and eating these meals just as much as I have this first one. Keep your eyes peeled on my Instagram page where I will post pictures of all four meals and possibly back on here once I have tried everything.
